How stupid are Americans?
Pretty fucking stupid, inconsiderate, and rude.
Today’s bus trip up to WinCo Foods was validated my theories about stupidity. There was evidence proving that there are an incredible amount of inconsiderate, stupid people in the world.
A young woman, 18 or 19, boards the bus and commences to unleash a torrent of expletives at her phone. Not up near her ear. She wasn’t using FaceTime. It was speech recognition to text. She was calling out a friend who accused her of trying to steal the accuser’s boyfriend. “Bitch, don’t go dissing me. I don’t want people hearing shit like that,” as the entire bus heard her. It was impossible to ignore. The old dude in a seat behind her, directly across the aisle looked at me and I shrugged. But it kept going. It was like a longshoreman and a sailor had possessed this young woman and the curses kept coming. I started laughing. It was so absurd. The old dude looked over at me, because he was clearly pissed about the woman’s tirade, and said, “Really?” I laughed again. Then he left the bus and she was done.
“…I don’t want people hearing shit like that!” Everything is done in public these days: personal arguments and fights, music through Bluetooth speakers or really shitty speakers on a smartphone, phone conversations, insults from strangers, loud conversations, everything but courtesy and respect for others.
In the land of the stupid Donald J. Trump is king.
