Why Aren't We Revolting
against our rulers? Because we're revolting in other ways.
I’ve been thinking (I know, that was my first mistake) and 250 years ago or so Great Britain taxed the American colonies. The colonists felt unrepresented. King George III sent British troops to the colonies and housed them in the colonists private homes. The taxes (Stamp Act, Tea Tax, etc) led to the Boston Tea Party and the Battles of Lexington and Concord.
We’re all taught a reduced version of our history leading up to the writing and signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
These actions led to the American Revolution and the founding of our nation. The Bill of Rights and the Constitution are reactions to Great Britain’s treatment of the colonies and baked in certain rights like not having soldiers quartered in your home.
Here we are, June 6, 2026, and we are not represented in Congress, the Courts, or by the Government at all. We have thugs and goons breaking in doors and dragging suspected immigrants out of their homes and schools and detained in private prisons (remember work houses, if not read Oliver Twist), and many different privileged classes (the wealthy, property owners, law enforcement, and the President himself) who can’t be held sued or face repercussions for their actions. Trump enacted taxes without representation in the form of tariffs (from 10% to 100%), and destroyed the East Wing to build an unpopular and unnecessary ballroom and claims he has the right to do it. (Imagine you’re a renter, a temporary tenant, and you punched holes in the walls of your apartment, and claimed you had the right to do it!)
All of this swirling around the 250th anniversary of a revolutionary document and what are the citizens of the land of the free and home of the brave doing? NOTHING. This kind of shit is what starts revolutions. We’re armed to the tits and we do nothing?????
Meh. I’m not proud to be an American. Shit, I’m not proud to be a human living at this time on this planet.
Think about this!
